Small cells with limited range and channels are low-power base stations that communicate with the network through a radio network controller to make sure that available wireless spectrum resources are properly managed and distributed. In order to expand wireless coverage, the small cells will usually be installed in public facilities such as shopping malls, railway and subway stations, public buildings, and on street or traffic lights.
